Central Electric Empowers Educators Through Bright Ideas Grants
SANFORD, NC — Central Electric Membership Corporation is proud to announce the return of its Bright Ideas education grant program, which supports innovative classroom projects across the region. This year, CEMC will award approximately $15,000 in grants to local teachers whose creative ideas enhance student learning in ways traditional funding cannot.
Since 1994, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have awarded more than $15 million through the Bright Ideas program, funding over 15,400 projects and impacting more than 3.8 million students statewide. Central Electric continues this legacy by investing in educators who bring subjects like science, music, history, and technology to life.
“Bright Ideas grants are more than financial support—they’re a vote of confidence in our teachers’ creativity and commitment,” said Meg Moss, Director of Marketing & Member Engagement. “We’re excited to see how these projects will inspire students and enrich classrooms across our service area.”
Applications are open through September 15, with an early bird deadline of August 15. Teachers who apply by the early deadline will be entered to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards.
Demonstrating Community Commitment
Central Electric’s dedication to education is just one example of its broader commitment to community support. As a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative, CEMC serves more than 24,000 homes and businesses across Chatham, Harnett, Lee, Moore, and Randolph counties. Through initiatives like Operation Round Up, youth leadership camps, scholarships, and partnerships with local nonprofits, the co-op reinvests in the people and places it serves.
